Civil Society Assistance- a collaborative endeavor of INGOs is planning to expand its outreach to South Afghanistan, through a specially designed programme; viz Kandahar development initiative. The Kandahar development initiatives main objective is to augment institutional capacities of development actors, including state and create an enabling environment for the State and Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) to collaborate and undertake holistic development in a sustainable manner, and to contribute to strengthening the regional development process.

Under the overall guidance and supervision of the Senior National manager, HID, and direct supervision of the Regional Development Advisor, the CSO Coordinator is expected to undertake the below stated responsibilities.

· Coordinate the activities and be overall in charge of day to day operations of the office.

· Develop greater synergy between the main development actors and ensure greater coherence of their development approaches,

· Facilitate wide range of capacity building activities, especially training and exposure visits, for the partners and government departments,

· Promote and strengthen a common platform for facilitating interactive learning partners

· Facilitate regular and constructive dialogue between the main development actors in Kandahar, including the Governor, government departments, multilateral agencies, other civil society organizations, donors and the private sector.

· Provide needs-based support and inputs to the provincial development planning.

· Facilitate in harmonizing development efforts and jointly develop more effective approaches to the promotion of alternative livelihoods.

· Support the exchange of experience and create an environment of interactive learning that is accessible to all the main development actors.

· Strengthen the local development actors in the performance of their respective roles and responsibilities.

· Identify and build local NGOs with a wide range of capacity building inputs.
